Sought, Found, cling
Luke 4:42
Jesus departed to a desert place…this was normal for Jesus to get alone with His Father and pray. I f Jesus needed time alone with God how much more do we need time with Him!
They (the people) sought Him, they came to Him and they begged Him not to leave them. This shows how much they desired the presence of Jesus…do we?
We don’t have to beg God not to leave us because Mat 28:20 tells us that Jesus will never leave us!
Let’s break this verse down:
1.) Seek the Lord, Isaiah 55:6-7 tells us to seek Him while He may be found which reminds us that as Gen 6:3 tells us, His Spirit will not always strive with man. Also, John 6:64 reminds us that no man can come to Father unless the Spirit draws him; it’s not up to us to chose when we come to God. CALL ON HIM because TODAY IS THE DAY OF SALVATION!
2.) To seek the Lord means to FOCUS our attention on Him. In a world of distractions this may sound easy but it’s probably the most difficult thing you’ll ever do. In Mat 14:22-33 Peter walked on the water but when he took his eyes off Jesus he began to sink. The same is true with us; when we take our eyes off Jesus we will begin to sink in our situations etc.
3.) Come to Him (Mat 11:28-29) We have an invitation to come to Jesus! Who? The broken, the tired, the hurt, the addicts, the confused, the sinner…ALL who labor “on the treadmill of religion attempting to please God with acts of services rather than resting in His love.
4.) The Message Bible says that they CLING to Him. We must maintain our vital union with Christ. Stay connected! Stay in union! When the money is low cling to Jesus! When your body is hurting with disease and pain cling to Jesus! When your family and friends walk away CLING TO JESUS!
